Who Said Anything About Being Funny?

When I think of a Harlequin, I think of a jester, a clown, a joker. Well there's nothing funny about the harlequin shrimp. With its large claws it typically feeds on starfish, cutting it up and eating it piece by piece. I found this individual on a very pale starfish (the white at the bottom of the frame). While I couldn't see its partner in crime (there's usually two), it was probably just hiding, waiting for me to leave so they could continue feeding.

For this image I wanted to try and force the viewer's attention to the the pincer and the eye. By using a wide aperture, I managed to get both in focus while softening the rest. Not a great ID image, but for me a more interesting image of a beautiful predator.
