The Posse
Half an hour after sunrise I looked across the pool and saw this scene. Three great egrets looking in unison. A grey heron bending down to grab a fish. A great egret with its beak tucked beneath its wing as if it were a frozen morning. Two more great egrets having a face off. All in the golden light of dawn.
